Aspects
Aspects are the angles between two planets in a birth chart — conjunction, opposition, square, trine, sextile — each read as a different kind of relationship.

What it is
An aspect is the angular distance between two planets in a natal chart, as seen from Earth at the moment of birth. The five major aspects each get a different traditional reading: a conjunction (0°, two planets at the same point) blends their energies together; an opposition (180°) reads as tension between two poles; a square (90°) reads as friction that forces action; a trine (120°) reads as an easy, flowing harmony; a sextile (60°) reads as a supportive opportunity. Computing an aspect needs the exact zodiac degree of each planet, which in turn needs the precise birth date, time, and location an ephemeris calculation provides.
Worked example
A chart where the sun sits in a square to Saturn is traditionally read differently from one where the sun sits in a trine to Saturn — same two planets, same signs even, but a different angle producing a different relationship (friction that builds discipline, versus steady, easy support). The angle is the entire reading; the individual sign placements are not enough on their own to know which aspect, if any, is present.
What Mystica's engine actually computes
Mystica's Birth Chart reading computes planet-in-sign placements only — it does not calculate exact planetary degrees or the angles between them, so it does not produce aspects. A full aspect calculation needs an ephemeris (a table of precise planetary positions by date and time) this reading does not currently use. This entry explains what an aspect is for readers who encounter the term elsewhere; it is not a claim that Mystica computes them today.
