Astrological Houses

The twelve houses divide a birth chart into life areas — home, career, relationships — based on your exact birth time and location, which Mystica's current birth-chart reading does not take as input.

What it is

Where a zodiac sign describes how a planet's energy behaves, a house describes where in your life that behavior shows up. The twelve houses each cover a traditional life domain — the 1st house is self and identity, the 4th is home and family, the 7th is partnership, the 10th is career and public standing, and so on. A planet's house placement comes from dividing the sky at your exact birth time and location into twelve segments starting from your ascendant, so — like the ascendant itself — houses cannot be computed from a birth date alone.

Worked example

Venus in Libra describes a harmony-and-relationship-seeking style regardless of houses. Whether that shows up mainly in a 7th-house partnership context or a 10th-house public/career context depends on which house Venus actually falls into for that specific birth time and place — the sign says how, the house says where.

What Mystica's engine actually computes

Mystica's Birth Chart reading covers planet-in-sign only — it answers "how does this planet's energy behave in this sign" for all ten planets across all twelve signs, from your birth date. It does not compute house placements, since houses need a birth time and location this reading does not take as input today. If a page or search result led you here looking for your specific house placements, that calculation is not yet part of Mystica — this glossary entry explains the concept honestly rather than implying the reading covers it.
